| KCA's 25th ANNIVERSARY REUNION AND SUMMER COURSE | |
KCA's 25th anniversary and reunion, held in collaboration with Capital University's regular certification course in Columbus, Ohio from July 29 - August 2, 2002, has now passed into history. |
Fo those former students viewing this website for the first time, a brief synopsis follows.
Reunioners representing the Kodály Musical Training Institute, KCA, and the 1969 Dana School of Music Workshop, came from twelve states, Canada and Mexico. They were thrilled to find instructors they had studied with previously - Hungarians Peter Erdei, Lenci Igo, and Éva Vendrei - and former classmates now on the faculty at Capital - Sandy Mathias, Joan Litman, and Bruce Swank. Mrs. Kodály attended and spoke on "Our Musical Heritage" - our Musical Mother Tongue.
The highlight of the whole course was participation in a very moving performance, with orchestra, of the Mozart Requiem, conducted by Péter Erdei. |
Reunioners were given a booklet of some fifty KMTI/ KCA graduates' current biographies, assembled by phone, email, and letters, as well as a Tribute booklet honoring the forty Hungarians who have taught over the years for KMTI and KCA academic year and summer programs. |
At the final luncheon, Denise Bacon was presented with a silver bowl commemorating KCA's 25th Anniversary and her founding of KMTI and KCA. She responded with thank-yous to everyone who had helped her over the course of some 37 years and concluded with a statement that Capital was a worthy successor to all that KMTI and KCA have stood for. |
It was a one time memorable and historic event, not soon to be forgotten by those who participated. |
