In 1969, when KMTI was established, there were no American Kodály publications based on the then current Hungarian practice. Materials were sorely needed for the teaching of solfege in the Kodály manner, as well as American folk songs and suitable art materials for the development of curriculum. Also needed was a way to disseminate these to the musical public. Realizing that an American curriculum should not be based on Hungarian materials, Peter Erdei and Katalin Komlos started to research American folk songs, which in turn Denise Bacon arranged for both classroom use and concert performance. She also composed easy unison and two-part exersises in the manner of Kodály's 333 Exercises and Bicinia. Eventually KMTI and KCA graduates and faculty began to produce materials that were both necessary and useful as the movement developed and expanded. KCA's Catalogue of Teaching and Learning Resources grew to be a comprehensive listing of useful materials, including video, film and recordings. |

Since Denise Bacon's retirement, the dissemination of KCA publications became a problem because of reduced staff. Recently, the Center sought to divest itself of its publications and to find other sources of distribution. As of August 2001 Capital University Conservatory of Music acquired the bulk of KCA's former catalogue. For the reader's convenience we list the places from which KCA publications and other titles of its former catalogue may be ordered: |
| Capital University Conservatory of Music |
| Masterworks Press |
| Clayfield School of Music, Australia (for distribution in Australia only) |
